Eastern Trip - Florida

This is our 3rd trip so far this year and will be the longest.  We left on Tuesday, 6/8, and will be gone about 6 weeks.  Our itinerary will take us to Florida, Connecticut, and Kentucky before arriving back home the middle of July.

We've had alot of rain in Plano this spring to say the least!  We went up to Lake Murray in OK. in April, and, when we came back, our site was muddy.  As a result, this is what happened when we backed into it.

When we left this past Tuesday, we had continued to have a lot of rain so the tires were full of mud.

Anyway, we stopped at our favorite QT store and got a supply of coffee/snacks for the trip.  We always park in a No Parking Zone and have yet to be caught!

The day started out beautifully.

But, of course, when we got into Louisana, we ran into rain again and a lot of it.  On a good note, the mud got all washed off!

We crossed the Mississippi River between LA and MS and our campground was just on the other side.

We spent the night and on Wednesday got back on the road.  Most of the day was spent driving thru MS and they have some beautiful scenery along the roads.

We made it to Mobile, AL and the traffic backed up somewhat before we got to the tunnel.

But it wasn't much of a slowdown in the tunnel.  On the other side is the Alabama destroyer.  Some day we want to stop and tour it.

Crossing the bay...

About 100 miles further and we were in Florida and found our campground in Holt - Rivers Edge.

And the river (the Yellow River) is right at the back of the CG.

Very popular for fishing.

This is our site.  Will be here two days to rest up before we leave again on Friday.

We will get to Indian Rocks Beach on Saturday, drop our trailer off at a CG, and then go over to the timeshare.  Always a good time there.

More later...
