Chanute KS and HOME

We did go to Chanute, KS for some service to the RV.  If you remember, someone sideswiped us in MA back in July.  We had that repaired but we also noticed that our small slideout appeared to have some water damaged.  And, of course, it did.  They had to remove the slide entirely and replace the flooring.

Just consider it normal maintenance whether in a house or an RV!  So we spent 3 days in a motel while they repaired it.
Got the trailer on Thursday morning, but didn't get on the road until 11:30.  It was a long trip home (360 miles) and we got home but had try to park the trailer in the DARK!!  Don't ever want to try that again!!
But we are home now and glad to be back.

Friday was Homecoming (HOCO) weekend for LCA - Lucas Christian Academy where Emma goes to school.  We went to the football game with Julie and Emma.  They play 6-man football so there was alot of action.  I think the final score was something like 65-50.  They lost.  But it was fun to watch.

Saturday night was the dance.  Emma and her friend, Julianna, got dressed at Julie's house.  They went out to dinner with another friend and then to the dance.

Hard to believe that she can be that old already (16).

That's it for now.  Probably will not be doing much updating for awhile.

Omaha, NE

Well, we are back home now in TX for awhile.

I did find a couple of pictures of the trees while at Donna and Karin's cabin.  This one was supposed to be the full moon coming up but you can only see the outline of it.

This tree is right outside their cabin.

The memorial service for Uncle Kenny and Auntie Betty was on Saturday, Oct. 7th.  Very nice picture of them, and, a very nice memorial service.

We did leave Pequot Lakes on Sunday, Oct. 8th and drove to Sioux Falls for one night.
I meant to put this in earlier, but just found it.  We had a special snack one day.

The next day we drove to Omaha, NE to visit my sister, Judeen, and family.
This picture was taken back in June when we passed thru there on our way to IA.

Tuesday we went to an art museum in downtown Omaha.

Most of the time was spent in the children's area.  Aliza had a great time.

You could draw pictures with a paint brush but you didn't have to use paint.

In this picture you can see Judeen sitting in front of clear glass making a picture of herself.  About 5 feet in front her was a mirror so she could outline her face from the mirror.  Neat idea.

Judy created this picture and then emailed to herself.

We didn't get many pictures because we, the adults, were busy playing with the many activities that they had!!!

On Wednesday we went to the Omaha Zoo.  Saw a hot-air balloon on the way.

It was about 40 degrees when we got there but no wind so the sun helped to keep us warm.

Katie is pushing Aliza and Alison there as well.

Because Halloween is coming up, they had some very neat pumpkin carvings.

Since it was rather cold, we did the outside portion later in the day.

This peacock would eat right out of your hand.  Aliza wasn't too sure of it, but did eventually let it eat out of her hand.

The aquarium was great.

They had a 'bubble' where you could crawl in and be right there with the fish.

Back outside...

There was a butterfly building.

And back outside again...

The giraffe were impressive.  They were indoors because of the cold.  12 in all.  One baby.

Had lunch while there.  In the sun of course, to keep warm!

Goats were popular.  Aliza would pet them and then even brush them.

Feeding the fish in the goldfish pond.

Quite a display of Tanukis...

A bird sanctuary.

The kids got a stick with bird food on the end.  The birds would land on your stick and peck away at the food.

This is more of the kids' adventure area.  They had several climbing structures with slides, etc.  Aliza liked this 'hills.'  At first she tried to somersault down but then we got her to roll down.  She did that for about 20 minutes.

That night we ended up at this restaurant again.  Excellent food.

We said our goodbyes and went back to the CG.  Had some wood so we had our final campfire for the trip.

On the way out of the CG they have several of these cabooses that can be rented.  Looks like they would be fun.
