Left St. Cloud in the rain on Sunday morning and drove North in it all morning. The interesting thing about the 80 mile drive was the amount of traffic headed South. I guess all the campers, weekenders, etc. were headed home (St. Cloud, Twin Cities, etc). It was steady stream of traffic the whole way. Glad we weren't in it!
Found our CG and got setup in the rain.
On Monday we got a call from Donna (in Bemidji) inviting us to come up there on Wednesday for a couple of days and spend it with her and Karin. So we did. The trees were in bloom.
We went by lake after lake on the way. This is Leech Lake, the 3rd largest lake in MN and has 194 miles of shoreline with a maximum depth of 156 feet.
We got to their corner and followed the road/path to their cabin/home.
The moon came up.
That night we watched the MN Lynx defeat the LA team for the WNBA title. It was an exciting game to watch. The Lynx have now won the title 4 times in the last 7 years.
Last night, Thursday, they had a special on the team - a parade to Williams Arena and then into the stadium.
This is Lindsey Wallen, who is originally from Hutchinson, MN, went to the U of M, played basketball there and was drafted by the Connecticut Sun in the WNBA. In 2010 she was traded to the Lynx. She has won World and Olympic titles with the US women's national basketball team, as well as four WNBA titles with the Lynx. She is 34 years old but you would never know it.
We are glad we were up here or we probably would not have seen the ceremony.
Fun to watch the Lynx game and festivities with you. And the moon's appearance was definitely a bonus!
