Mexico 4

OOPs, I did forget a few things.  So here goes:

We did celebrate Valentine's Day here:

In past years they have had lobster or steak or a combination of both.  This year it was shrimp or a combination.

It was very good.

This is Murray and Shelle.

Jeff and Susan.

And Judy and me.

Now for some random stuff...

Alot of murals here.   This is just one.

Judy thought you should know where we are parked.

And, no, this is not us.  Just a retro.

In Mexico, the stop signs should look like this one.

But it could look like this one.

Or even just painted on a pole.

I know you cant see this one, but one reason why is because there is nothing on it!!

They also say that if you come up to an intersection and see stop signs on the other 3 corners, you had better stop because one should be there!!  In one case I saw the hole where the pole should have been.

And, finally, if you do not want your vehicle washed, you had better have this sign on your dash.

Mexico 3

Well, it is now February 19th and we will be leaving in 2 days for Texas.

In the meantime, the first picture is what you see most every morning (looking South).  And its a great day for coffee and pondering what the day will bring!!

This guy is out there with his dogs quite often when the water is calm.

I guess we have decided we are going to eat out more!!  Here is a place called Pollo Lucas. We frequent this place alot because its so good.  It's not enclosed so you want to come when it is warm outside.  In the back is a large grill where all the chicken is cooked.
We usually get 1/2 chicken each and Mom gets rice and I get refried beans (what else!!).  It comes with tortillas, salsa, gaucamole, and lettuce.  And we also get a Coke "Light" (not called Diet here).  Price is reasonable - around $12 for both of us.

The RV Park has a free fish fry each year for all the residents.  This is a picture of the beach area where they have it.  Right now they are just setting it up while we watch and wait!!

Now they have the fryers going and the beer is cooling.

It's pretty good fish - sea bass, trigger fish, some shark, etc.  The weather was great as you can see.

Since this was Presidents Day weekend as well, there were a lot of people here.

I took a short walk down the beach and took this picture.  You can barely see the RV's in front of that tall building (hotel).  To the left is something called "Whale Hill" and occasionally you can see whales from there.  And there are several expensive homes us there as well.  (We did not get up there).

This is something you see a lot of down there -buildings partially finished.

I'm not sure that I should say this because it is almost a 'sin' but instead of going to Duke's on Monday for cheeseburgers, fries and a drink, we ventured out.
On this street are 3 restaurants that all sell tacos.

We went in this one and had tacos - Mom had 1 chicken and I had 2 shrimp.
Excellent.  The 6 of us were the only ones in there during lunch time.

This was our bill and it apparently included 2 Coke Light because it was not itemized.  $9.

Alot of the restaurants now show the pesos and the dollars.

This is one of the roads leading down to the street where our RV Park is.  Nice view of the Sea of Cortez.

Can't have a blog without a couple of sunsets!!!

That's all folks...

Mexico 2

It's now February 10th and time for another update.

Jeff and Susan celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on Feb. 1.  We had champagne at the RV Park first.

And then went to the LaCurva Restaurant to celebrate with food (of course!).

Jeff is shown here taking a picture of the "platter" that they ordered.

Mom and I ordered individual meals.  She had chicken quesadeias and I had the burrito.  I cut mine in half right away to take some of it home.  Food was delicious.

We frequent the Super Ley grocery store often.  Saw these cute cupcakes.

The ladies (Mom, Shelle, and Susan) like to spend time doing crafts.  Their first creationsFisr are these gnomes.

Found a Dollar Store here in town:

Kiddie toys here too.

We had never heard of this game before but it is very popular here -32nd Annual!!

It consists of throwing a large "washer" (about 4 inches in diameter) to a board a few feet away.  There are 3 holes in the board and the farthest is worth 5 points, the middle one is 3 points, and the closest is 1 point.  First one to 21 wins, but you can't go over.  You stand on one board and throw to the other one as pictured below.

Here they are checking to see which ones went in the hole.

Each team has their own shirts.

Some on them have banners that they have posted on the wall.

It was fun to watch.

Of course, another sunset from our back window.

We've had some windy days lately.  Very strong currents in the ocean.  Pictures don't do it justice.

Now here is cute little camper in the park (retro I guess).

Last Saturday the group went out to breakfast at the Pink Cadillac Restaurant just down the street from our park.
It's 50-60's style place and this mural was on the outside wall.

Very good breakfast for about $15 for the two of us.

Saw this billboard in town.  Haven't tried it though.

We have many beautiful sunsets.  Here are a couple.

Last Saturday was the best day here.  Sun was out; it was about 70 degrees.  Everyone was enjoying it.

At night the wind picked up and the trailer was rocking.  On Sunday we had strong winds again, and, with high tide coming in, the waves almost came up to the wall, as you can see.

This morning, Monday, we have rain and temp is in the high 50's.  While having breakast we saw two rainbows.

It's now time for lunch - Duke's of course.  More later...
