Mexico 2

It's now February 10th and time for another update.

Jeff and Susan celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on Feb. 1.  We had champagne at the RV Park first.

And then went to the LaCurva Restaurant to celebrate with food (of course!).

Mom and I ordered individual meals.  She had chicken quesadeias and I had the burrito.  I cut mine in half right away to take some of it home.  Food was delicious.

We frequent the Super Ley grocery store often.  Saw these cute cupcakes.

The ladies (Mom, Shelle, and Susan) like to spend time doing crafts.  Their first creationsFisr are these gnomes.

Found a Dollar Store here in town:

Kiddie toys here too.

We had never heard of this game before but it is very popular here -32nd Annual!!

It consists of throwing a large "washer" (about 4 inches in diameter) to a board a few feet away.  There are 3 holes in the board and the farthest is worth 5 points, the middle one is 3 points, and the closest is 1 point.  First one to 21 wins, but you can't go over.  You stand on one board and throw to the other one as pictured below.

Here they are checking to see which ones went in the hole.

Each team has their own shirts.

Some on them have banners that they have posted on the wall.

It was fun to watch.

Of course, another sunset from our back window.

We've had some windy days lately.  Very strong currents in the ocean.  Pictures don't do it justice.

Now here is cute little camper in the park (retro I guess).

Last Saturday the group went out to breakfast at the Pink Cadillac Restaurant just down the street from our park.
It's 50-60's style place and this mural was on the outside wall.

Very good breakfast for about $15 for the two of us.

Saw this billboard in town.  Haven't tried it though.

 We have many beautiful sunsets.  Here are a couple.

Last Saturday was the best day here.  Sun was out; it was about 70 degrees.  Everyone was enjoying it.

At night the wind picked up and the trailer was rocking.  On Sunday we had strong winds again, and, with high tide coming in, the waves almost came up to the wall, as you can see.

This morning, Monday, we have rain and temp is in the high 50's.  While having breakast we saw two rainbows.

It's now time for lunch - Duke's of course.  More later...

Mexico 1

                Well, it is now Friday, January 30th so I guess its time for an update.

I did mention before that on Monday's we go to Dukes for lunch - cheeseburger, fries, and drink (pop or beer) for $5.  Good deal.  We will be going again this coming Monday!

                    

When we left Dukes, we decided to drive over to another RV Park (where we stayed the first year we came down here).  Unfortunately, I, apparently, did not make a COMPLETE stop because a police car was sitting right around the corner!  She put her lights on and made a u-turn so I knew I had done something.  I pulled over and she pulled up behind me.  Came up to the truck and wanted my insurance and drivers license.  Then she said something like "follow me" so we did.  Ended up at the police station where I ended up paying a fine.

At the bottom it shows an amount of $1,612 and then -$812 for a total of $800 which is in pesos, so it turned out to be $50.  Luckily we just had that amount.

Judy stayed in the truck in case I didn't come out and she took this picture for me!!

We see some fishing boats every day.

We occasionally have horses and riders along the beach.

Went to a Vegetable Stand (everyone calls it that), and here it is.  Pretty basic inside but you pick out your fruits and veggies and then have it weighed and then you pay.  Simple.  Whether here or at the grocery store (Super Leys) or Walmart (Borra Aurtega), someone sacks your things and it is customary to tip that person (In pesos of course, so you'd better have some with you!).

This RV was in the park - an old NUWA trailer made by the same company that made our 5th wheel.  Pretty good shape too for one that was probably made in the 80-90s.

We had a trailer next to us when we first arrived and it was good because everyone is backed into their site.  And you have room on both sides.

However, last week this pulled in next to us - a Prevost - probably 45 ft long. As you can see, it sticks out well past the front of our trailer.

And because he drives in, this is how close he is to us.  Needless to say, we did not open our blinds on that side because we could look right in this windows and vise versa!!

Fortunately they left after a week so now we have this.

We went out to lunch on Wednesday with the group to the El Capitan restaurant.

We sat outside on the patio.

I guess I had gone to the truck to get our sunglasses because I am not in the picture.  Shelle took the picture so she is not in it either.

Great place to go - good food - and with a coupon 1/2 price menu.  What's not to like!!

There is a cruise ship that is sailing here in the Sea of Cortez.  It is very old and will probably be retired this year.

It is quite small - around 400 passengers.  We have seen it come here twice already.  There is no dock so they have to anchor in the harbor and the people come ashore via small boats.  We think they dock at the same place that we have gone fishing from and it is not pretty!!  Anyway...
