All the Way from Michigan to PA

Well, I guess it's time again for an update (since we will be back home in about a week!!).

We left Sault Ste Marie on Monday; eventually over the Mackinaw Bridge.

Caught this freighter heading for the bridge.

And on to Traverse City to visit with one of Judy's nieces, Eva, and her daughter, Elliot.

We camped at the Northern Michigan fairgrounds

We drove into town to meet them at the Tractor Barn Restaurant.  Eva's friend, Jeff, came with them.

After dinner we drove back to her house and had a nice visit.  Her back deck was a great place to sit and talk.

On Tuesday we left Traverse City and drove to Belding, MI where we visited with my cousin, Karen, and her husband Bob.

We try to get up here every year.

On Wednesday they took us to the Frederick Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park
in Grand Rapids.  The park is committed to presenting fun, interactive and informative programs about plants, sculpture, the environment and the arts.

They were doing some major renovations/new buildings so this is the best sign Judy got.

We did go into one section that had many kinds of cacti.

We walked into a couple of other sections but did not get pictures.

We got there in the afternoon so didn't have a lot of time to see everything, but, we did see a very interesting movie about how the Japanese garden was made.

From there we found a Chinese buffet for dinner.  Very good.

On Thursday we hung out at their house, looked at old pictures, and reminisced.  For dinner we had the pleasure of having their daughter, Jodie, eat with us.  After dinner, daughter Sandi and her husband, Scott, came.

Had a great time again, as usual!

On Friday we drove about 50 miles to Charlotte, MI and had lunch with Jan Gray.

We first met Jan back in the early 90's when she and her husband were members of our church back in Plano.  Her daughter, Joy, and family live in McKinney so we see Jan when she comes to TX to visit.
Jan has since moved and is now here where her parents live and other sisters/families nearby.  She is now a realtor.  We had a nice lunch/visit with her again.

After lunch we drove from MI through a corner of Indiana and then Ohio to a campground for the night.  We found out early on that we don't want to travel the Ohio Turnpike!  We might have driven a 100 miles before we got off the turnpike to find our campground and the toll was $21!

Saw this truck at a rest stop along the way.

Look at the number of axles on that thing!!!  And that's just on the trailer!

Anyway, we found our campground (Gotta Getaway RV Park in Bellevue, OH) and spent the night.  Nice family campground with cabins, tent sites, and RV sites of course.

The next day, Saturday, we continued across Ohio on US21 that is not a toll road.  It took longer but we enjoy going thru the small towns along the way.

When we got to PA, we got on I-80 (no turnpike) and drove to our campground (Woodland Campground in Woodland, PA).  When we checked in, we were told that there is a potluck supper at 5 and we were invited.  So we did that.   Good food and met some nice people.  We spent Sunday here as well since I don't like to drive on Sundays.

On Monday we drove to the eastern side of PA and spent a couple of nights at a Thousand Trails campground in East Stroudsburg.  Nice area but no pictures!

On to CT....
