Connecticut (Simsbury)

We made it to our campground in Barkhamsted, CT on  Thursday, 6/24.

This is out of order but we thought it interesting that a pool was being transported somewhere (maybe to Julie and Ken's backyard???).

Expensive campground ($336 a week) for what you get - water and electric only.  And sites are very close to one another.  Fortunately, we didn't have any issues.

Dump station on the way out.  But the options were few and far between.  Anyway...

Our reason for being here was to see Larry and familiies.

On Friday night we had Larry and Karie, and Hannah and Jon out for supper and bonfire and smores.

We always leave it to our resident expert to start the fire for smores.!!

She did good!

We went to Karie's house to see where they live and to have some snacks on the back patio.

We were also in CT to attend a graduation party for Karie's daughter, Aubrey.  She plans to attend the University of New Hampshire.

Some pictures of the day.

Attended a couple of Karie's youngest son's ball games  Here he is at bat.

They did win their district.  Picture below is of the family.  From the right side it Connor, Larry, Aubrey, Karie, Cam, and the coach and his wife.

We did a little sightseeing around Simsbury.  This park has a tree that is between 300 and 500 years old.

These limbs are enormous!

We also visited what they call the 'Flower Bridge."  It's a walking bridge only but has flowers all along it.

And the stream below it.

Larry came out to the campground one morning to visit, and, we ended up at a diner for lunch.

This barn is on the way to Karie's house.  Judy likes pictures of barns in case you haven't noticed that in previous blogs!

On Tuesday we went out to dinner at this Mexican Restaurant to celebrate Hannah and Jon's 1st anniversary.

Jon's parents, Mike and Laurie, came down from MA to help celebrate.  They are on the left side of the table next to Judy.

We enjoyed meeting up with them and celebrating - the margaritas were a hit too!!

We had a great time visiting everyone since we were not able to get up there at all last year due to COVID.  But that should all be in the past now!
