Valdez - Salmon and a BEAR

Today, Sunday, it has been drizzling all day.  We stayed in most of the afternoon but then decided to visit the museum and Safeway.  On a whim, we decided to out to the Solomon Gulch Fish Hatchery one more time. 
Well, today was the day - a black bear was feasting on the salmon attempting to get up the stream.

The last two are not real clear - I was trying to catch him with the salmon in his mouth.  But he would grab a fish and then turn around and start eating it.  So I had to take the picture before I actually saw him with the fish.

Anyway, it was a great time - we had binoculars and watched him too.  Although these pictures don't really show it, he was large.

We now consider our trip to Valdez worth it!!!

Tomorrow we will travel to Delta Junction...
