The next morning, Wednesday, Sept. 21st, we left our campground and made our way south to Calgary. But to get there, we had to drive thru two Canadian National Parks - Jasper and Banff.
Here is a map showing the route. The lower left section shows the route - Highway 93 from Jasper to Calgary. If you double-click on the picture, you can see it more clearly.
We were thorougly impressed with the mountains all the way. (No commentary necessary).
SNOW??
Nope, white flowers!
More flowers?
Nope, SNOW!
This road thru the parks was called the "Icefields Parkway." At some point we saw glaciers (picture above). At this stop you could actually take a tour of the glacier in this vehicle.
When we got out of Banff, we traveled on a 4-lane highway and came to several rather strange looking bridges, like this one.
It's not a road at all, but a crossover for animals!
We finally found our campground just outside Calgary late in the afternoon.
The next day we headed toward Calgary and saw the ski jumps from the last Olympics.
And a picture of downtown Calgary around 9:00 AM.
Next, the lower 48!!
