Montreal

We left our campground in Quebec and headed for Montreal.  Saw these mountains all by themselves.

Further on we came to this:

A train crossing on the freeway!!!

The freeway passed thru Montreal (no pictures) and continued West (Quest in French).  Turns out that our CG is about 50 miles away from Montreal.
Anyway, just before our CG, we crossed over into Ontario and then our sign for the CG.

And a neat playground for the kids - with a real pirate ship.

  Here is our site:

On Friday I got directions from the camp host on how to get back to Montreal by driving and taking the train.  He said we had plenty of time to catch the 11:45 train (next train would be at 12:45).   We drove about 45 miles back to a train station but encountered road construction both on the freeway and on the local street approaching the station.  Needless to say, we got there late.  I saw two ladies waiting for a train and asked about tickets.  They said I had to go downstairs.  Found the tunnel that takes you from one side to the other, and, in the middle, the ticket machine.  Had trouble finding the right tickets to buy but did find the $4.75 tickets that they mentioned at the CG.  Had to use CC since it wouldn't take cash.  Got our tickets and raced back up to the platform.  Train was just leaving.  But we weren't even sure if that was the train we wanted!!
We finally decided that we needed to be on the other side of the tracks because we saw signs that indicated that the Montreal train would come over there.

Well, we got over there and awaited.  And waited.  And, at 12:45, another train came on the other tracks.  We watched it go by.
From then on we kept looking down the tracks.  As you can see, no train.

We finally left at 1:30 because we both had needs (bathrooms).  Before we could get to the truck, the clouds opened up and we started to get wet.  Got into the truck and headed back to the CG.  Found a place to eat (with bathrooms!) and then drove back.
When we got back we asked the people in the office about our problems but could not determine what we did wrong (Senior moments, I guess).  Apparently we should have taken the second train that came, but the signage said differently.  Unless of course, we couldn't read it correctly since it was in French!

So we have not, and will not, be going into Montreal.  Yesterday was supposed to be rainy so we thought we would wait until today (Sunday).  But I looked at the train schedule this morning, and, the trains only run every 3 hours.  Not happening.

Instead we toured a little of the local area.  Found one of these - very popular in Canada and in the Ohio area.  Not sure where else.   Good coffee, bakery items, and sandwiches and soups.  Probably similar to a Dunkin Donuts.

We did get close enough to the St. Lawrence Seaway for a picture.  And 'Canadian' geese.

Also found a cheese factory and bought some local cheese.

We also found a roadside stand selling corn on the cob - bought 6 ears.  Much smaller than what we get in the states.
And found a local grocery store - needed milk.  Here is how they sell it in the gallon - in a plastic bag!

We did not buy this - only bought a half gallon in a plastic container for $4.49.

Are back at our CG now and are ready to leave tomorrow for the Toronto area for a few days.
