Here is a map of Ontario and the Lake Superior Circle Tour. If you click on it, it will enlarge and you can see the route better.
On Friday, 7/5, we left Thunder Bay and drove north to the town of Marathon. Skies were somewhat overcast so it was good on the eyes.
Lake Superior in the distance.
Unique bridge structure.
More of the Lake.
And more...
We finally arrived in Marathon and found our camp site at the Penn Lake Park and Campground.
The Penn Lake Park has a small lake that has a beach and kids were swimming the day before we took this picture.
The town of Marathon is rather small - 3,274 people. It does have a mall which are just a few stores attached together with a central entrance.
We needed a laundromat and found a nice one in town. However, not cheap - 3 loads came to about $22 in Canadian. But it had to be done.
We did some touring - found a cove called Carden Cove, at the north end of Lake Superior.
Here we are with the beach in the background. Kids were swimming.
Since this is the north end of the lake, wood piles up here along the shore.
Next stop - White River...
