We left Louisbourg on Monday morning and drove in a lot of rain for a good part of the day. We are headed to Dingwall which is at the far right of the map. We travelled thri Cape Breton Highlands National Park and the road was steep and windy thru mountains but we didn't see much because it was so foggy.
We stopped for lunch and had some chowder. This rock and sign were outside.
We did have some clearing and got a few pictures.
For you history buffs, John Cabot apparently landed here while searching for 'Asia'. On the way to that site, we passed this small fishing village.
This is the park where Cabot landed.
We walked down to the beach area. (Tide was out!!).
The pictures below are of our CG and campsite. We only had an electrical hookup here, but we were able to run a long hose to the water spigot to put some water into our fresh water tank. And, we were only going to be here one night so it was not a big deal.
It's hard to picture this, but this road up to the CG was very steep and then the next picture shows the road (again steep) up towards our site.
And then, here we are, tucked into the trees. Look at the slope just getting into the site!!
But we made it work!
Next stop...Prince Edward Island (after following the northern coastline of Cape Breton thru the mountains).
