We saw this sign on Friday in Alberta and looked good to us:
Picture is a little fuzzy, but we were at the BC border:
We did arrive here in Dawson Creek early Friday afternoon. The weather has finally improved. It has been mostly sunny and temps around 60. For several days we were in rainy weather and our truck and trailer show it.
Because the trailer is a lighter color, the dirt didn't show in a picture, but it is definitely there. We will probably get a wash on up the road this week. Some CG's have RV washes.
They have a great museum behind the sign. We went thru it the last time we were here.
Yesterday it was time to restock so we hit the local Walmart and Safeway stores. There was a farmers' market in the morning so we went to that as well. Got some rhubarb and saskatoon jam. (Saskatoon is a berry somewhat like blueberries). Haven't tried it yet.
Then we went to a place called 'Rhubarb to Roses Garden Centre. Judy had picked up a brochure from the CG office. What intrigued her was something called rhubarb and rose hips jam. What??? Anyway, we found the place and talked with the owners - according to them, rose hips are the fruit of the rose plant, that typically is red-to-orange, but ranges from dark purple to black in some species. They begin to form after successful pollination of flowers in the spring or early summer, and ripen in late summer through autumn. Rose hips are used for herbal teas, jam, jelly, syrup rose hip soup, beverages, pies, bread, wine and marmalade. They can also be eaten raw, like a berry, if care is used to avoid the hairs inside the fruit. (Now, does that sound like something you would want to eat???). We did buy some rose hips jam and they also gave us some frozen sasktoon berries and rhubarb.
A restaurant chain that is popular in Canada is 'Boston Pizza.' They were started in Canada so don't know why they called it 'Boston' but we have eaten at these before, and, since there was one here in Dawson Creek, we had dinner there. Good pizza and good beer!
Today, Sunday, we went to church at Grace Lutheran, an Evangelical Lutheran Church of Canada.
Very nice church but only about 15 people in attendance today. Usually there about twice as many, but this is the Victoria Day Holiday so quite a few were gone. They do not have a pastor so the congregation takes turn doing the service. Once a month a pastor comes from Vancouver to preach and serve communion. They were very welcoming and even invited us to have lunch with them after the service, which we did. Had a very nice time.

Yesterday when we checked out where the church was, we saw two deer in front of a house, and, after, we drove by, they ran across the street and almost got hit by another car! Guess we will have to start being more observant on the roads from now on!!
Tomorrow we leave for Ft. Nelson, about 270 miles. Kind of a long trip for us but not much in between to stay overnight. So we will start early - around 8:30 or so for us.
Will update again later this week...
