Cape May, NJ

On Friday we drove over to Cape Lewes, DE to catch the ferry to NJ.  It holds about 100 vehicles.

We were all tucked in for the trip.

It was foggy when we left and got worse as we went.

Sister ship headed to DE.

We did make it across and found our campground a few miles north.  There were some things we wanted to do here so we stayed a week.

This was one of our trips to the Jersey shore.

This is an extremely popular tourist spot.  They estimate that some 700,000 visit here, and, on a holiday weekend, as many as 900,000!!  Unbelievable!

We drove for a long ways but could never find a parking spot.  Finally we crossed a bridge and found a rocky shoreline where some people were fishing. We parked and sat on some of these rocks for awhile looking out at the Atlantic.

These pictures are looking back at the shore line.  Not many people here on this beach because it was somewhat hard to get to.

There were more people looking out that way but too far to really tell unless you zoom in.

On our way back we took a picture of some of the houses along a waterway.

They have a great "free" zoo here in Cape May.  It was hot but we enjoyed walking around.

Judy's two favorite things:  "ARK" and "Gift Shop."

Because of the heat, most of the animals were 'resting.'

You would think a camel would be acclimated to the heat but not this one.  It almost looks like he has died, but he was breathing.

Standing under a water spray.  Never moved.

Very nice zoo.  If you are ever in the area, it is worthwhile.

We also found a JCP store to buy a few things.  Turns out this one is closing so we got some great deals.

We also went to the Wildwoods boardwalk.  This a picture of the beach from the boardwalk.

Here is the beginning of the boardwalk.  38 blocks of food, clothing, jewelry, amusement park, etc!!  We walked most of it and then caught a trolley back to our truck.

We enjoyed our stay in Cape May (first time here even though we lived north of here (110 miles) for 6 years.
