Selma, NC

Friday we left Boone and headed East to a campground in Selma, NC.  It started raining shortly after we got there, but we had the awning up so it was nice to sit out and enjoy the weather.

On Sunday we found a church (Elizabeth Methodist – no Lutheran Church nearby) in the neighboring town of Smithfield.  Website said service was at 10 AM but when we got there it had already started.  We went in anyway.  Found out later that they have been starting the service at 9:45 so that the pastor could leave and do a service at another church.

The lake at our campground had a 'gaggle' of geese.

It was a hot weekend/holiday – we tried to sit out but by afternoon it was too hot even in the shade.   We did find a duck on a nest in the bushes by the tree but we never saw any eggs.

On Monday Judy decided it was time to make some friends!

They got close but they wouldn't take the bread from her.

Selma has the distinction of having Amtrack run thru here.  This was a caboose on display.

For the 4th Judy made s'mores.  We shared with another couple there.

It was a nice place to stop for awhile but by Wednesday we were ready to get back on the road.
