Mexican Hat

On Sunday (2/10) we drove north to a place called Mexican Hat.  Had to check it out with a name like that!!
Anyway, here are some scenic pictures along the way.  As you can see, it was a beautiful, sunny day.

Elevation here was around 4000 feet and we had go down into the valley and cross the San Juan river.  The small town of Mexican Hat is located here.
Once we crossed the river,

we climbed back up to around 4,000 feet and the saw the reason why it's called Mexican Hat!

If you look a little closer, you can see a smaller 'Hat' that someone apparently created.

We drove a little farther up the road to Goosenecks State Park.

The place is breathtaking, to say the least!!

Judy needed to be daring and stand behind the fence!!

I made a video of the area but, of course, I can't get it in the blog!

A 'selfie' was in order just to confirm that it is us out there!!

Some more scenery along the way back to Mexican Hat.

This sign was on the wall pointing to the motel, etc.

And this was the motel from a distance!  Not sure I would want to stay there.

The cafe was just to the right of the motel.

Lunch is a double cheeseburger on fry bread.  It was good.

The trip back was great too.  Got to see the same scenery but from a different perspective.

We got back to the CG and settled in for the night.  I did look at the weather forecast and this was the picture.

Rather hard to see but it does show snow between 1 and 2 AM.

When we got up, there was a dusting of snow, and, as a result, the roads were wet.  So you can imagine what the truck and trailer looked like when we got to Sedona.  But that's for another day...
