Bisbee, AZ

We left Tucson yesterday (Monday, 3/11) and drove to Bisbee, all of about 100 miles.

As we got closer, we got into the Mule Mountain range.

Interesting/unusual way to get into the park.  First, you have to take a hard right and go up into the Visitor Center and Queen Mine Tour parking lot at which point you think: "Oh, I made a wrong turn and now I won't be able to get out of here."  And then you see the Queen Mine RV Park.   But now you have to make hard left and go up a steep gravel road (4x4 low range worked well!!)  Did I mention that it is a one lane road??

We did make it up the hill and found our site.  They had put a orange cone out with our name on it.

And here we are.  Basically surrounded my mountains.  Behind us is the old copper mine.

As you can see, it is basically a gravel lot.

You might think we are in prison or something looking at the next picture.  But, no, just a fence.  The mine visitor lot is below us and the town is in the distance.

We walked down to the Visitors building and saw the old equipment that they used in mining.

Mine entrance.

If you took a mine tour, this would be the lead engine.

and cars.

We opted not to take the tour because we have taken other tours, and, I think they are all about the same.

They did have some interesting displays of the mining operation back in the day, but the pictures don't really do them justice

As you might expect, they had many displays of different rocks, etc.

From the CG, we drove into Bisbee.  Mountains off to the south with the sun and clouds.

This is main street but as you go further, we found that the streets are very narrow and difficult to navigate with a truck our size.

However, we did find the local brewery!

Very small bar/restaurant area.  We sat across from these guys.  The purpose of the picture is to show that we sat right in with the vats.

As we sat there drinking our beer, it started to rain, but stopped long enough for us to finish and get back to our truck and back to the CG.
We knew before we came to Bisbee that we would probably have some rain, and, it did rain all night.
When I checked the weather this morning, this is what I saw.  'Mixed Rain and SNOW??'

So, I guess we saw all that we are going to see here in Bisbee.  We leave tomorrow for Deming, NM. and then Van Horn, TX and finally Big Bend National Park.
