Terlingua, TX

Well, as usual, I am way behind on this blog as we are in Whitney, TX now (3/24).

Anyway, we did leave Bisbee, AZ. and drove to Deming, NM where we spend a night.  This RV was next to us:

Not sure how he got that smartcar off of there, but couldn't ask because he was just leaving as we took the picture.

Then on to Van Horn, TX.  But before we got to Van Horn, we stopped at a Walmart to pick up some supplies.  And on our way back to the freeway, we encountered this:

A HUGE windtower blade turning in front of us.  He did it very slowly because it looked like the tip of the blade was close to scraping the brick wall on the left.
He did make it, and, we continued on to Van Horn for the night.

The next day we drove to Terlingua, TX which is just outside the Park.  along the way we saw this:

Not sure, but I guess it's a weather balloon.
Scenery along the way was impressive, as usual anywhere out WEST.

We found our CG and got setup.  Very nice place.  Before we finished setting up, the CG host was over with maps of the area as well as a map of the Park.

That afternoon we decided to tour Terlingua.

This place is a bar with music in the evening.  Bar didn't open until 5 so we didn't stick around.

If you wanted to be outside with your drink, these seats were available.

We found the local cemetary.

From the very basic to somewhat elaborate.

Along the road was this display.  On the right a tower from a submarine.

And on the left, a pirate ship.  Go figure...

We found a BBQ truck as recommended by the CG host.

Menu on the wall.

He was out of brisket so we had turkey, potato salad, and beans.  Took it all back to the RV as it was too cool to sit on the picnic tables.  It was delicious.  Got 2 meals out of it all.

It was a good day...
