After Hell's Gate, we continued on to Cache (pronounced 'cash') Creek, found our campsite and got set up. Even got the DISH pointed and working.
Even though we are still in mountainous areas, there are sections where they are growing what I think is alphalfa. They don't get much rain here so everything, including lawns, is being watered. The climate in the Cache Creek area is very day and semi-arid, quite hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
Today we drove down to Ashcroft, a small town about 6 miles away. They had an interesting museum about the town's history. This is their historic firehall.
We thought it interesting that very little was growing on the lower part of the mountains, but, higher up, it was green and there were trees.
We did a little grocery shopping, came back to the CG and got some wood for a bonfire tonight. But the CG manager told us about a steak dinner (back in Ashcroft) at the Legion (Royal Canadian Legion, we think - they gave us these mementos).
Dinner and beer was excellent. Interestingly, they had the Toronto Bluejay/Minnesota Twins ballgame on TV. Ironically, Pam and Steve were at that very game!!
Now that I've mentioned how dry it is here, it is raining today, Saturday, so I guess we will just have to wait it out!!!
A side note here - we have been noticing that the daylight hours are getting longer as we head north. Sunrise is at 5:20 and sunset at 8:45.
