Blaine, WA Day 4/5

On our trip from Elma to Blaine, we got a glimpse of Mt. Rainer but didn't get a picture.  However, when we got to Seattle,

we happened to look to the east and there it was in all its majesty:

Saturday, the 7th, we drove into Vancouver for the day.  We weren't sure what to do so we found the Vancouver Trolley that operates thru out the city.  They actually have two routes - the blue line and the red line.  Each one covers a portion of the city, and is narrated as well.  You can get off at any number of stops and then get back on, usually 20 minutes later when another trolley comes along.
We had to cross the border (crossing over, as some might say!!).

This was in the parking lot right after we went thru customs:

And then drove about 25 miles to get to the city.

Canada Place Terminal, located on the waterfront and a few minutes' walk to the heart of downtown Vancouver or Waterfront Station, is the primary cruise ship terminal. Canada Place was built originally for Expo86 and is recognized by its dramatic rooftop that looks like five white sails:

A cruise ship is sitting in front of Canada Place.

We had a very poor map of the trolley routes and attempted to find one of the stops.  We couldn't find one so we stopped at a Starbucks and asked them.  About that time, a trolley came by, so we stopped it and found out where you could catch the trolley.  Then we had to find a place to park the truck.  Parking meters were everywhere but you could only get a couple of hours, and, we knew we would be gone longer than that.  We tried a parking garage but the max. height was 6'6" and we couldn't get under that.  We drove around for quite awhile before we found a corner parking lot which was about 8 blocks from the trolley stop.  When we got there, we weren't sure when the next trolley would come by, and, it was quite cool, so we went into Starbucks and got a coffee.  About that time, wouldn't you know, the trolley came by!!  So we missed it!!  We drank our coffee and then went outside to wait for the next one, which came about 25 minutes later.  All in all, we did enjoy the rides on both lines.  Here are a few pictures along the way:

Vancouver is a major Canadian port as seen by the freighters in the bay above.

Here is the Olympic Cauldron from the 2009 Winter Olympics:

We saw the Olympic Village, Chinatown, Gastown, Stanley Park, etc.

At 4 PM a hockey game between the Canucks and the Nashville Predators was to be played so we saw many people with Canucks jerseys and people would be shouting 'Go Canucks.'

After the tour, we did actually find our truck again and got back to the CG around 7 PM.  Nice sign coming back into the US:

On Sunday we went to church, Zion Lutheran, which was about 5 miles from our CG.

The service was very good, and, we went down to the basement for coffee afterwards.  Everyone was very friendly.

On the way home we drove around the bay (Birch Bay) and looked at the homes and condos.  It is a very popular place during the summer.

The tide is out during the day so we saw people and their dogs walking out on the sand.

Next stop - Hope, BC!!!
