Sorry for the font changes in this post - can't seem to get it changed!!
On Thursday we left Chichester and drove about 100 miles to a town called Bartlett, NH which is near Conway/North Conway. A few pictures along the way; that is Ray and Karen's RV in front of us.
Drove thru the town of Meredith - beautiful lake and surroundings.
Saw this house/castle in the mountains - not sure how they got all the materials up there to build it?
One of many covered bridges here in New England.
Arrived at our campground.
Beautiful sites.
We are basically
in the White Mountains (so called because the tree line ends near the top and
when it snows, the mountain top is “White).”

Directly behind the campground is a place called "Storyland" which is an amusement park but geared toward younger children. During the day we could hear the roller coaster going but around 5 PM all activity stopped and the park closed down for the night.
On Friday we
drove into North Conway, NH which is a very popular ski town in the winter and very
active even in the summer.
Stopped at the visitors' center and took a couple of pictures. I think White Mountain is in the background on the right.
Huge rock formation off to the south that is popular for climbers. More on that later.
Found the train station that is active for train excursions and also has a museum. Very interesting place.
When we came out, Ray and Karen were patiently waiting for us.
Judy and I did book a train ride for Saturday (5 hours) which will take us further up into the mountains.

Many ski
slopes here - drove over to this one. Hannes was the father of modern skiing and founder of the first ski school here in the US.
Ray took a picture of us on the way up.
View from the top looking down at North Conway.
View of Mt. Washington from the top of the ski slope.
Judy and me at the top.
Another picture by Ray of us behind them as we are descending.
We had planned to eat lunch up there but it was quite expensive so we just had a drink and cam back down.
Found a restaurant--
and had a late lunch of oven-fired pizza.

Then we drove up to the rock formation for views of North Conway and to see some climbers. Interesting tree growing out of the rocks.
Saw these two resting half way up/down (don;t know which way they were going).
And then saw this group arriving at the top.
We must have been 'slow' because here are Ray and Karen again waiting for us!!
We headed back to the campground but came across this field of strawberries. Notice who is feeding.
The farmer came up while we were watching and fired a gun to shoo the bear away. He reluctantly went into the woods!
Got back to the campground and had a fire. Rather cool the first night - jeans and sweatshirt!!
