We left Anaheim around 10 AM on Monday, passed near LA:
Drove thru more mountain scenery:
and arrived here in Bakersfield. Got setup at a nice RV park (RedRiver Run RV Park) about 5 miles from Diane's.
We drove over to their house later and met almost everyone, including Diane and Rob,
and Neil,
Billy Jr and his girlfriend, Amy,
and Laurie and Billy Ray's kids, Mckenzie and Duane.
Laura wasn't feeling well so we didn't get to see her, and, Billy Ray got away before we could get his picture.
The weather was beautiful so we sat outside by the pool quite a bit. Had a great dinner of hamburgers, potato salad, and some baked beans that were "to die for."
On Tuesday Diane picked us up and we drove to Nancy and Ben's house in Tehachapi in the mountains. It's a gated community of about 5,000 people. Basically only one way in and one way out. Their house is amazing as you can see. (Click on the picture to increase its size).
We spent the night and most of the next day there visiting with them. Had a great time and great food as well.
Here's Ben and Nancy:
They had a cute, playful dog (but, Julie, I didn't play with him at all!!). Here is Nancy with Scotty.
While the ladies drove into town to shop, Ben took me on a tour of the community - the mountains behind their house and then the mountains on the other side of the valley. Very nice views.
After we got back from Nancy and Ben's, we had dinner at Diane's and then went over to see Laurie's salon:
Tonight, Friday, we all met at a place called "Wool Growers" restaurant (a Basque restaurant). They served soup (cabbage vegetable soup, to which you could add beans and salsa) and bread; salads (oil and vinegar or ceasar), pickled tongue, cottage cheese, corn, french fries and bread. And then your choice of entree (lamb, chicken, fish, or steak). Everything was great.
We said our goodbyes:
and are now back at the CG. Tomorrow we leave for San Jose.
