We encountered a little shower at first, but, then the rest of the day was mostly clear.
Alot of these plants along the shoreline:
We walked out on Old Fisherman's Wharf and were given a sample of some clam chowder. We were so impressed that we went into the restaurant for lunch. We sat next to this table and were by the window so we could watch the Pacific Harbor seals.
Unfortunately, the seals were too far away to get a good picture. UPDATED: Here is a picture of the seals:
This is a picture of the harbor on our way back to the car after lunch.
We then took a self-guided tour around Pebble Beach. Alot of beautiful scenery along the coast.
Chris R. - we thought you could relate to this sign!!!(click to enlarge).
We even saw some deer lounging on the golf course!
Even though housing prices are depressed here in CA, we still couldn't afford this one!
At the southern end, we left the tour and drove into Carmel. It's a quaint city full of shops - mainly art galleries. We did find the local bakery and had some ice cream (didn't taste like Braum's and wasn't priced like Braum's either - $3.50 a scoop!).
All in all, it was a very nice day.
Yesterday I noticed that our CG has some freeloading guests:
We see the turkeys every day, but have only seen the deer one morning.
Today Dave and Nancy left to fly back home so we are on our own again. We plan to stay here over the weekend and then on Monday we will start our trek north again. We will probably stay along the coast on Hiway 1 that night and then drive into Oregon to visit with an old high school buddy, Pat Foley.
More later...
